Building Confidence and Skills
Like many returning students, Abigail faced initial nerves about balancing her responsibilities at home with the demands of her healthcare studies. But with unwavering determination and support from her placement officer, she embraced the challenge. Motivational guidance, hands-on experience, and her own resilience became the cornerstones of her success.
Abigail’s placements at King’s College Hospital played a crucial role in her development. Starting in the A&E department and later moving to the Therapies department, she gained invaluable real-world experience. She developed essential skills such as patience, effective communication, active listening, and problem-solving. More than that, Abigail seamlessly applied her classroom knowledge to practical situations, demonstrating her competence and dedication. From adhering to hygiene protocols to correctly using PPE, she showcased her growing expertise in healthcare.
What's Next for Abigail?
Abigail’s journey doesn’t stop here. This September, she will be taking the next exciting step by studying Occupational Therapy at university. Her achievements so far are a testament to her hard work, resilience, and passion for making a difference in the lives of others.
