Higher Development Awards
The Higher Development Award (HDA) programme is designed to help personal development for clinical and non-clinical support staff to progress their careers or remain in their current role.
Is this course for you?
The Higher Development Award is open to all staff working in bands 2-4 (or equivalent) in Health and Social Care organisations who may be clinical or non-clinical. This includes healthcare assistants, support workers, maternity support workers, rehab assistants, therapy assistants, receptionists, ward clerks, coordinators and administrators. These qualifications are designed for healthcare assistants, support workers and non-clinical staff; usually working in band 2-4 roles.
All registrations will now take place through the employing organisation. An employee must complete the Expression of Interest Form in full providing details of why they wish to pursue the course and agreeing to the mandatory attendance. The form needs to be signed by the employee’s manager and by the organisation lead. The expression of interest is then submitted to Lambeth College.
Each form will be assessed for suitability. Where the employee already has functional skills at level 2, they will be offered a place on the level 3 programme. For those without functional skills at level 2, they will be assessed for functional skills and offered a place on the appropriate level course.
All NHS leads will need to email any further questions and expressions of interest to our Curriculum Head, Daniel Gonzalez This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
There are three levels of programme:
Learners will be advised of the dates and joining instructions sent out. Organisational leads will be kept informed of their learners’ programme at three stages – upon joining, mid-programme and at the end of the programme.
Places will be limited and preference will be given to learners who are already on their Higher Development Journey.
