To be accepted onto this course you will need five GCSE's at grades 4-9 (to include English, Maths and Science)

Studying a T Level programme in healthcare science will give you all the essential skills needed for a career in the sector.

You'll explore core scientific concepts including the structure of cells, tissues and large molecules, to understanding the principles of person-centred care. Equivalent to three A Levels, this course provides a route into employment or into higher education.

  • What do you need to apply?

    Five GCSEs at grades 4-9 (to include English and maths GCSEs at 4-9)  Or Relevant level 2 qualification at merit grade or higher (to include English and maths at level 2 or higher)

  • How will you be assessed?

    T Levels place great emphasis on industry experience, so during this course you will spend 80% of your time in the classroom and 20% on a 45-day placement with an employer. This will give you the skills, knowledge and hands-on experience that companies are looking for when you step foot into the workplace. 

    On this course you will be assessed through exams, coursework, synoptic assessments and on your work placement through employer-led projects.

  • Where can this course take you?

    Following successful completion of this T Level in Healthcare Science, the natural progression route is to continue studying through an apprenticeship or to study a related subject at university. Careers in the healthcare science sector can include

    • Healthcare science assistant
    • Radiography assistant
    • Sterile services technician 

    Some of these jobs require extra qualifications or work experience. Careers advice will be available as part of your course.
